Moson

The Rettig Mosonmagyarovar site (referred to as “Moson”) is named after the neighbouring  town (home to a population of 30.000 people). The plant is located about 15 km away from the Austrian and Slovakian border and enjoys direct motorway connections to both countries.

The total industrial site is 95.000m² of which the Rettig Hungary legal entity owns a building area of 21.000m². Together with the sister site of Walcz in north-western Poland, Moson is part of the 40 mm production platform and home to the panel radiator sold under the Vogel & Noot brand.

This plant distributes to all parts of Europe and beyond ranges of compact and integrated valve radiators and also more recently central connection and flat front radiators under the product names Vonova and Ornis II. Production capacity is 1.000.000 pieces per year and the plant employs around 250 personnel. The development of the successful T6 mid- connection radiator and the associated line automation was a particular achievement of this plant and its management. This same expertise has been utilised more recently for pioneering automated gluing of flat front radiators.

Although Vogel & Noot’s history goes back to the 19th century with heating product manufacturing started back in 1929 with DIN radiators, steel boilers and components, Moson’s history is more recent - but no less significant.

Vogel & Noot bought the area in 1990. In June 1991, Vogel & Noot Hötechnika Limited Company was founded with ownership split 68% to Vogel & Noot Wärmetechnik AG and 32% to Kühne Agricultural Machine Factory. In December 1996, Vogel & Noot Hötechnika Ltd. became an entirely foreign owned company with Vogel & Noot Wärmetechnik AG as the sole owner.

The Mosonmagyarovar radiator plant itself was opened in April 1991 and operated as  a limited company in a duty-free zone. This duty-free zone status came to an end with Hungary’s accession to the European Union in 2004.

As production grew expansion soon followed on the site.

In 2002, the Vogel & Noot concern was divided in three separate companies with manufacturing on the Moson site split across Radiators,  Technology (pressed automotive parts) and agricultural machinery.

In May 2002, ownership of the radiator business passed into Finnish hands with  Oy Rettig Ab’s acquisition of  Vogel & Noot Wärmetechnik AG . Subsequently in  July 2007, the name of Vogel & Noot Hötechnika Ltd. was changed to Rettig Hungary Ltd.

Today, Moson site is now integrated into and managed within Rettig ICC Operations.
